This Week’s Hefty®/ Reynolds Wrap® Camry …This weekend, Eric McClure will compete with a brand new Superspeedway chassis during Saturday’s Aaron’s 312. This chassis was purchased during the off-season from Rusty Wallace Inc (RWI).
After a one-week hiatus, Eric McClure and the TriStar Motorsports’ No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry headed to Richmond Int’l Raceway hoping to continue the team’s forward progression in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner Standings. Unfortunately, a car that seemed unresponsive to adjustments for the majority of the event plagued the Virginia driver and resulted in a 31st-place finish. Consequently, the team fell three positions in the owner standings.
With a combined effort from drivers Eric McClure and teammate Jeff Green, the No. 14 Hefty® Reynolds Wrap® Racing™ team posted a 24th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway. As a result, both McClure and his owner, Mark Smith, advanced two positions in their respective points standings.
Race Notes and Quotes
Following the Series’ First Two Off-Weekends, Eric McClure is Ready to Return to the Track…Crew Chief Wes Ward has selected chassis No. 7 for this weekend’s race at Texas Motor Speedway. It was last run at California Speedway where the team was credited with a 26th-place finish.
With only one race remaining before the 2012 NASCAR Owners points take effect for guaranteed starting positions, Eric McClure headed to one of his least favorite tracks on the circuit looking not only to better his 2011 performance which earned him a track-best finish of 21st, but also gain as many points as possible. Unfortunately, the weekend didn’t go as planned as the team had to settle with a 26th-place position. Consequently, the TriStar Motorsports team slipped four positions to 28th in NASCAR Owner Standings.
