McClure Returns to TriStar for 2012

Team McClure Inc. and TriStar Motorsports announced today that Eric McClure will return to the TriStar organization for the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season, driving the No. 14 Toyota Camry in all 33 scheduled events. McClure, 33, a native of Chilhowie, Virginia, made his NNS debut in 2003 and has competed in 170 events since that time. In his first year with TriStar Motorsports, McClure ended the 2011 season 19th in Nationwide Series Standings.

A 29th-place Finish to End 2011 Season

Florida City, FL (November 19, 2011)—Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty® BlackOut™/Reynolds™ Chevrolet finished a disappointing 29th at Homestead-Miami Speedway after an early race entanglement with another competitor shattered the team’s hopes of ending the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series season on a high note. Despite the numerous ups and downs incurred this season, the TriStar Motorsports team remained resilient and was able to secure McClure the 19th-place position in NASCAR Driver Standings.

Congratulations Are In Order

Earlier today, Eric McClure tweeted the following and I thought it would be great to share on his website:

"We are having another sweet little girl! It looked like she was blowing kisses to us :) Her name will be Merrette. My heart is full today."

Congratulations to Eric, his wife Miranda, and his daughters, Mabreigh, Maryleigh, and Mirabella on the soon to be newest addition to the family in April.

A Track Best Finish for McClure at PIR

Avondale, AZ (November 12, 2011) –With just two races remaining in the 2011 Nationwide Series season, the TriStar Motorsports team knew a solid result at the newly configured and resurfaced Phoenix International Raceway would be a boost for the team in its battle for a top 20 position in NASCAR Driver Standings. In spite of being one of several cars that suffered near accidents during time trials, the veteran driver was able to rebound from his 38th starting position to post a track-best 19th-place finish. As a result, McClure advanced to 19th in NASCAR Driver Standings.

McClure Looking Forward to PIR

Texas Recap:
• After starting the event in the 39th position, Eric McClure rallied to a 24th-place finish. This finish was the driver’s second best effort at the 1.5-mile speedway.

New Surface at PIR Warrants an Extra Practice Day for NNS:
• Due to the new track configuration at PIR, the Nationwide Series will have an extra day of practice this weekend to get ready for Saturday’s WYPALL 200.
• This race will mark McClure’s 170th career start and his ninth at the one-mile racing facility.

A 24th-place Finish at TMS

Justin, TX. (November 5, 2011)—After spending much of the series’ final two off weeks with his family at Walt Disney World®, Eric McClure and the Hefty Racing® team arrived at Texas Motor Speedway for the final stretch of the 2011 Nationwide Series season. Despite starting the 200-lap event in the 39th position, the 32-year-old driver was able to wheel the No. 14 Hefty® BlackOut™/Reynolds™ Chevrolet to a 24th-place finish, his second-best effort at the 1.5-mile speedway.

Team Headed to Lone Star State

McClure Looking for Redemption at Texas Motor Speedway:
• Saturday’s event will mark the Virginia driver’s 169th career start and his 11th at the speedway.
• Despite having an average finish of 30.5, McClure considers Texas one of his favorite tracks on the circuit.
• In 10 prior events, McClure has a best finish of 19th (Nov 2009) and has only recorded two DNFs (2007/2008).

Engine Issues Plague McClure at CMS

Concord, NC. (October 17, 2011)—In what can only be described as a consistent string of bad luck in recent weeks, the TriStar Motorsports team headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway looking for a momentum booster. Unfortunately, the Hefty® BlackOut™/Reynolds™ Chevrolet was plagued with an engine problem on lap 22 that ultimately forced the team to the garage area to replace a broken rocker arm. Once the part was replaced McClure was able to return to the track to finish the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage in the 31st position.
